Commercial Business

Commercial Business

A commercial business is a legally recognized organization which is established to provide goods and/or services to consumers. The owners and operators of a business usually have as one of their main objectives the generation of a financial return in exchange for work. Notable exceptions include cooperative businesses and state-owned enterprises. Thus, there are many types of businesses, and, as a result, businesses tend to be classified as for profit or non-profit organizations.

Since most commercial business operate in a competitive environment, a business often needs protection in every jurisdiction in which they are concerned about competitors. Many countries are signatories to international treaties, and as such, companies registered in these countries are subject to national laws bound by these treaties. Further, as more business is conducted cross-border and globally, there is an ever growing demand for local commercial laws to keep pace with a country’s international obligations.

The role of the Ministry is to work to ensure business facilitation. The Commerce Division of the Ministry has responsibility for commercial business.
