Merchandise Marks

Merchandise Marks

As part of its consumer affairs portfolio, the Ministry encourages consumers to be vigilant regarding merchandise marks. In terms of consumer protection, the aim is to prevent, where possible, the application of false trade descriptions to goods, particularly those destined for sale.

When a trader is suspected of conducting business in contravention to the provisions of any legislation, consumers should report the matter to a consumer protection agency, such as the Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) for investigation.

The Commerce Division of the Ministry has responsibility for consumer affairs.
