Jamaica International Financial Services Authority (JIFSA)

The Jamaica International Financial Services Authority (JIFSA) was established in 2011, as part of Jamaica’s effort to attract new investments, stimulate job creation and generate revenues. JIFSA operates under the mandate of the Jamaica International Financial Services Authority Act, with the responsibility to establish and maintain international linkages, aimed at positioning Jamaica’s international financial and business services sector on the global landscape.

Its main role is to market and promote Jamaica as a jurisdiction for international financial and business services for economic growth and investments within the Jamaican economy. Additionally, the agency seeks to create and develop the legal framework to establish and support entities in Jamaica to provide financial and business services to the export market and own assets in other jurisdictions, thereby leveraging Jamaica’s several competitive advantages.

The guiding vision for JIFSA is to establish Jamaica as the premier Centre of Excellence for international financial and business services.

With a mission to establish Jamaica as a leading international financial and business services jurisdiction, the agency also strives to deliver the highest quality of service to facilitate and promote sustained economic growth and development through international business investments.

The mandate of the Authority is to foster the development of an international financial and business services sector in Jamaica to encourage investment, stimulate job creation and generate revenues.  Development of this sector presents an excellent platform for Jamaica to be recognized as an international business jurisdiction, by creating a new modern industry that will diversify the economy and further enhance Jamaica as a place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business.
