Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Audley Shaw, left the island earlier this week to represent Jamaica at the 12th annual conference of China - Latin America and Caribbean Countries being held in Zhuhai, China.

In his address, Minister Shaw cited Jamaica as a strategic location in the western hemisphere to become a major logistics hub for the manufacturing and assembly of goods for sale.
Minister Shaw also cited Jamaica’s major role as a premier tourist location and noted the fast growing business processes outsourcing sector, naming Jamaica as the 3rd largest English speaking country in the western hemisphere. He also said that Jamaica is the most mature financial market in the Caribbean region.
Minister Shaw will, on the weekend, join colleague Minister Daryl Vaz and JAMPRO executives at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2018, a major trade show in Shanghai, China.
Minister Shaw is accompanied in Zhuhai by HE Antonio Hugh, Jamaica’s Ambassador to China and Mr. Nicholas Sutherland, New Market Development Manager of JAMPRO.
