Director of Policy, Wayne Robertson

Mr. Wayne O. Robertson is currently the Senior Director of Policy, Planning, Projects and Research in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce. He previously served as Senior Director, Strategic Policy, Planning and Reform at the Department of Local Government in the Office of the Prime Minister. He has accumulated over thirteen (13) years professional experience in the Public Sector.

His most notable achievements in his former position were spearheading the development and implementation of the revolutionary Ananda Alert (missing children) System, and crafting a concept paper on Energy-from-Waste, which culminated in the development of a National Policy. He also served in other managerial capacities at the former Ministry of Local Government and the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ), where he began his professional career.

Mr. Robertson is a graduate of Kingston College (KC) and the University of the West Indies, and holds a MSc. in Government (International Relations) and a B.A. in French and International Relations. He has received extensive professional training in Strategic and Business Planning, Policy Development, Analysis and Management, Project Management, Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods, Performance Management and Supervisory Management.

He is a Past President and General Secretary of the Jamaica Volleyball Association (JaVA), a Rotarian (Director, Vocational Services), former executive member of the Jamaica Civil Service Association (JCSA), former chairman of that association’s Salary and Fringe Benefits (Claims) Committee, and Public Relations Officer for the Fortis Pavilion (KC Alumnae).

Mr. Robertson is a sports enthusiast, who spends his spare time watching track and field, football, basketball and volleyball. He is constantly involved in social outreach activities, and enjoys reading, researching, travelling, exercising, having a good laugh, and spending quality time with his family. He is a Catholic and married with one child.

Mr. Robertson is a strategic thinker who is passionate about Jamaica achieving its fullest potential through the adoption of appropriate policies and programmes, and a concomitant reform of values and attitudes. He is results-oriented and highly motivated to strategically position the MIIC as the premier Ministry in Jamaica which plays a key role in contributing to Jamaica becoming the “place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business” (Vision 2030 Jamaica).
