Brief Description: 

Programme provides technical support to farmers, including MSMEs, producing crops for local consumption, export and processing. The agency’s technical agricultural support cover wide areas of services including farmer registration; general extension services; specialized services, such as post-harvest management and marketing, land husbandry, pest and pesticide management and food safety. Each parish, has 13 RADA Parish Offices, including one for parishes of Kingston and St. Andrew.

FSMA programme is mainly focused on supporting farmers who grow crops for export and /or supplying processing companies. Training is also provided to MSMEs that are involved in farming activities and value added production.

Benefits: 

The intended benefits of the programme is to provide guidance and support to farmers in achieveing compliam]nce with Good Agricultural Practices (GASPs) by assessing of of on-farm infrastructurealong with trainings focused on food safety, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), safe use and disposal of pesticides and recors keeping. RADA also provides support to farmer groups.

Plant Quarantine Inspection, MICAF has responsibility to provide support and guidance to local exporters of fresh produce in achieving and maintaining compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
