Mr. Donovan Stanberry entered the civil service in 1996 and, since then, has served in several Ministries and various capacities.
Effective March 2016 Mr Stanberry has been appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, following on from his previous appointment as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries for the period March 2006 through to February 2016.
Prior to that, Mr. Stanberry served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Land and Environment, Chief Technical Director in the Ministry of Water and Housing, Senior Director in the Ministry of Public Utilities and Transport, Lecturer at the University of Technology, Jamaica and as Senior Economist at the Planning Institute of Jamaica.
He has served as Chairman of the Banana Board and a member of the Board of the Jamaica Dairy Development, Board, the College of Agriculture Science and Education (CASE), National Council on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NCTVET), Land Taxation Relief Board and the Caribbean Agricultural Research Development Institute Board.
Mr. Stanberry is also a former Board Member of the Sugar Company of Jamaica, Sugar Industry Authority, the Banana Export Co, the Rural Agricultural Development Authority, EX-IM Bank, Urban Development Corporation, Jamaica Exotic Flavours, Carib Engineering Corporation Limited, Water Resources Authority, National Housing Trust and the National Housing Development Corporation.
Mr. Stanberry is a past student of the Garvey Maceo High School. He pursued his tertiary education at the Moscow Agricultural Academy where he received a M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics and the University of the West Indies, Mona where he received an MBA in Finance. He is also a certified teacher of the Russian Language.
Mr. Stanberry is currently a Deacon of the Seventh Day Church of God. In his spare time he likes to read and play dominoes. He is married with one child.
As the "business" Ministry, we are the key driver and thought leader for facilitating investments in the economy and preparing local businesses and entreprenuers to take advantage of Jamaica's entry into the global supply chain.
