About

The Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC) obtains its goods and services in accordance with the Government of Jamaica’s procurement policy and procedures. The Ministry’s Procurement Committee and the Permanent Secretary have responsibility for the award of contracts under J$10 million. Contracts valued at J$10 million and above must be referred to the National Contracts Commission (NCC) through the respective NCC Sector Committee.

Contracts valued between J$275,001 and J$10 million must be approved by the Ministry’s Procurement Committee. A quarterly report on the contracts awarded within this price range is sent to the Contractor General’s Department. The Contractor-General, the Office of the Contractor-General and the National Contracts Commission are independent Commissions of Parliament established to ensure that the public sector procurement process can withstand public scrutiny and meet the primary objectives of efficiency, transparency, equity and integrity in the award of contracts.
