Minister Shaw welcomes newly appointed Serbian Ambassador

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Audley Shaw today (May 30), welcomed newly appointed Serbian Ambassador to Jamaica, His Excellency, Danilo Pantovic.
Minister Shaw and Ambassador Pantovic held discussions on the possibilities for cooperation particularly in the processed food industry. Currently, Serbia has no trading relationship with Jamaica.
Speaking during a courtesy call, Minister Shaw called for both sides to work toward the opening up of channels through which to advance trade, the strengthening of bilateral partnership and the development of new opportunities between the two countries.
“I can see all the potential for cooperation in a variety of fields that relate to our economy. What we want to do is to promote trade and business opportunities between Jamaica and Serbia and the strengthening of the bilateral partnership between the two countries, including manufacturing, services and, in particular, the agriculture sector as we seek to target the area of food processing. This is an area in which I have a keen interest and, which is high on my agenda. I am certainly interested in visiting your country to get a first-hand view and, to study your model”, said Minister Shaw.
Ambassador Pantovic noted that Serbia has a great interest in importing sauces from Jamaica as he has been getting enquires about the country’s sauce industry. He further stated that sustainable cooperation would be beneficial to both countries.
The ambassador expressed his appreciation for having been given the opportunity to serve in Jamaica and said he is looking forward to a fruitful and amicable relationship between the two countries.
