MIIC is committed to ensuring that Jamaica maintains a fair, transparent, and competitive marketplace where both businesses and consumers are adequately protected. This mandate is executed through a network of regulatory and oversight agencies that address different aspects of consumer and business protection. The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) enforces competition law, preventing anti-competitive practices and fostering a level playing field. The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) advocates on behalf of consumers, promotes consumer rights, and facilitates redress mechanisms. The Anti-Dumping and Subsidies Commission (ADSC) protects domestic industries from unfair trade practices, while the Department of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies (DCFS) ensures compliance and good governance in cooperative and friendly societies. The Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO) protects the rights of creators and innovators, and the Office of the Supervisor of Insolvency (OSI) provides oversight of insolvency proceedings to ensure fair treatment of creditors and debtors. Additionally, the Office of the Government Trustee (OGT) provides estate management and insolvency services where required by law. Together, these institutions safeguard market integrity, protect consumers, support businesses in achieving compliance, and build confidence in Jamaica’s economic environment.
