While on his way to a business mission to Latin America, Senator the Hon. Aubyn Hill, Minister of @industryminja toured the Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) HQ in Miami today, July 17th.
GEM is a global humanatarian organization founded by Michael Capponi that has done several outreach projects in areas that have affected by disasters such as in Brazil during the 2023 floods, and the ongoing war in Ukraine.
GEM has already started work in Jamaica with food and supply donations in St.Elizabeth and Clarendon, which will be followed up with additional supplies as well as help to rebuild several homes and possibly schools.
Minister Hill thanked GEM on the work they have done in Jamaica so far, and looks forward to collaborating with them to help to build back communities, homes and schools affected by the Hurricane Beryl.
Members of the Caribbean diaspora volunteer at GEM HQ to put together packages for persons affected by Hurricane Beryl in Jamaica and other islands.
Also attending the meeting was Mr. Oliver Mair, Consul General, Miami; Mrs. Kelli-Dawn Hamilton, CEO @JSEZA; Mrs. Shullette Cox, President @dobizja; Mr. Marlon Hill, @SFLCaribbeanStrong, Deika Morrison, GEM Jamaica, Country Director; and Ms. Alina Kurska, International Affairs Director, GEM.
