Craft talks

MINISTER of state in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce Delano Seiveright has initiated talks with the Alliance Craft Traders and Producers Association of Jamaica, the island’s largest organisation representing craft vendors and artisans.
In a recent meeting the parties explored practical measures to strengthen Jamaica’s craft sector, including improving market access, enhancing product development and quality standards, expanding training and business support for artisans, and deepening linkages with the tourism industry and export markets.
The discussions also highlighted the role of craft producers as an important part of Jamaica’s creative economy and a critical source of livelihood for many micro and small entrepreneurs across the island.
According to Seiveright, engagement with industry stakeholders forms a key part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to support the growth of micro, small, and medium-size enterprises (MSMEs), working closely with agencies such as the Jamaica Business Development Corporation and other partners to strengthen competitiveness, promote innovation, and create new economic opportunities for Jamaican craft producers.
