National Farm Queens visit MICAF

Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Hon. Audley Shaw shares in a photo opportunity with the farm queens who visited the Ministry’s St. Lucia offices in New Kingston on July 31. Minister Shaw held discussions on their plans for the future as well as the development of the agriculture sector. The winner of this year’s National Farm Queen Competition will be crowned on Monday , August 5, at the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show.

The occasion was a meeting to discuss a proposal by the group for assistance in setting up an incubator project at the premises of the former Rose Bank Primary School to include a workshop to manufacture bamboo furniture and craft and greenhouse farming, among other things.

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Audley Shaw makes enquiries about a Shacman truck to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Tank-weld Group, Chris Bicknell, at the launch of Tank-Weld’s equipment showcase in St. Andrew, on July 26. The equipment showcase marks Tank-Weld’s expansion from the business of equipment rental to supplier. A total of 27 pieces of equipment were on display.
