The MSME & Entrepreneurship Policy was first tabled in 2013, as a comprehensive document of initiatives for addressing the major issues confronting the growth and development of the MSME sector in Jamaica; In 2016 MICAF began a limited review of the 2013 Policy to make it more relevant and current to the changing economic landscape for MSMEs. Call issued for National Plan of Action on Antibiotic Resistance

Sounding a “breaking news” warning against the widespread abuse of antibiotics, which has led to an increase in antibiotic resistance, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the UWI, Mona, Dr Tomlin Paul, has issued a call for a comprehensive national plan of action to address public misuse of antimicrobial drugs. Chief veterinary officer in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr Osbil Watson, has joined the call for the prudent use of antibiotics not only by humans, but also in livestock production. Agriculture Ministry takes action to prevent incursion of banana disease

Monymusk to get solar power for irrigation system

The Monymusk sugar factory in Clarendon is set to become the first sugar factory in Jamaica to have its irrigation system powered by solar energy.
