EXPO Jamaica to be Held from April 27 to April 30

The 48th staging of Expo Jamaica, which allows Jamaican businesses to meet buyers from all over the globe, will be held from Thursday, April 27 to Sunday, April 30. This will be the first in-person staging of the event since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. It will be held at the National Arena and Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston. The Senate on Friday (March 24) approved the Appropriation Bill, 2023, which outlines how the government will spend the $1 trillion allocated in the 2023/24 Estimates of Expenditure. The Bill authorises expenditure for the financial year 2023/24 and stipulates how the money will be allocated to the various services and purposes of the government. Jamaican companies need to “step up to the plate” and ensure the training of more locals, says Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Senator the Hon. CAC Secures Over $36 Million for Aggrieved Consumers

The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) has handled 1,268 complaints and secured more than $36 million in refund/compensation on behalf of aggrieved consumers from April 2022 to present. The figures were reported by the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer, Dolsie Allen, who was addressing a Jamaica Information Service JIS Think Tank on Thursday, March 9.
