Emerging Industries

In pursuing economic diversification and sustainable growth, MIIC continues to facilitate the development of emerging industries with transformative potential. This work is guided by the Ministry’s Industry Division and Commerce Division, which lead policy development, sector analysis, and market engagement in support of new and evolving industries. The Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) is the primary regulatory body for the medical, therapeutic, and industrial cannabis industry, ensuring the integrity of products while safeguarding public health and safety. Through the combined efforts of the Ministry’s Divisions and its agencies, the emerging industries portfolio not only promotes innovation and job creation but also strengthens Jamaica’s participation in high-value global markets.
