The Office of the Government Trustee (OGT) assists individuals or organisations in improving their financial situation by assessing their standing.
The Department must be appointed by the Supervisor of Insolvency or the Supreme Court to undertake personal and corporate insolvency matters within international standards and best practices.
The Departments helps clients to set up budgets, create plans to tackle debt and provide education and support in managing money effectively and responsibly.
It will also:
· Provide prudent consumer credit and budgeting guidelines.
· Assist with the development of effective methods of achieving financial goals.
· Craft strategies to overcome financial setbacks.
· Make recommendations, where necessary regarding non-budgetary reasons for insolvency, such as gambling, addiction and marital and family problems.
