Gov’t launches islandwide Cannabis Road Tour
MIIC Author
The government has launched an islandwide Cannabis Road Tour.
State Minister in the Industry, Investment and Commerce, Delano Seiveright, announced the initiative in Newell, St Elizabeth, on Thursday.
He says the Cannabis Road Tour serves to introduce new permit categories to increase legitimate and stronger access to the growing multi-billion US dollar industry.
The two new permit categories are Cultivator’s (Transitional) Special Permit and the Special Community Permit.
Seiveright says the Cultivator’s (Transitional) Special Permit is established to include experienced growers without proper financial and technical resources.
He says the Special Community Permit will help communities develop and share resources to ensure they benefit from their efforts and that wealth is distributed equally.
As part of the tour, the Cannabis Licensing Authority will meet and interact with the public, providing regulatory guidance and technical and application support.
