There were high praises for the Jamaica National Agency for Accreditation (JANAAC) and the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) at today’s JANAAC FDA Recognition and Accreditation Awards, held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.
Delivering the keynote address, Senator the Honourable Aubyn Hill announced that JANAAC has been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, as an Accredited Body under the FDA Accredited Third-Party Certification Programme.
“This means that JANAAC is one of four accreditation bodies in the world recognized by the FDA in this programme and the only accreditation body with a scope of ten approvals.”
The occasion was also used to mark the accreditation of four BSJ laboratories by JANAAC, confirming the technical competence and reliability of each for Raw Material, Building Material, Cement and Energy Testing within related scopes.
Minister Hill said that accreditation is a critical part of the equation in exports. “It brings the assurance that products and processes meet prevailing international standards and best practices.”
He encouraged the local business community to use the facilities of the MIIC to support their business operations and congratulated JANAAC and the BSJ for their achievements.
