The Honourable Delano Seiveright, MP

Delano Seiveright is Jamaica’s Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC), popularly known as the “Business Ministry” and one of Government’s super ministries. The Ministry oversees more than twenty agencies and departments that drive business growth, investment promotion, and economic competitiveness, including the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), the National Export-Import Bank of Jamaica, the Fair Trading Commission, the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA), the Companies Office of Jamaica, and the Bureau of Standards Jamaica, among others.

An experienced public servant, Seiveright’s career reflects a strong commitment to national development through governance, tourism, business, and international stakeholder engagement. As a strategist and policy specialist, he has influenced policy and legislation on investment, tourism, economic growth, and cannabis law reform.

He previously served as a Senator and Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, and before that as an Advisor and Senior Communications Strategist in the Ministry, working closely with Minister Edmund Bartlett to implement initiatives that delivered record growth, improved worker welfare, and strengthened economic linkages.

Beyond government, Seiveright has consulted in corporate communications, business development, and investment, while serving on several public boards, including JAMPRO, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo), the Cannabis Licensing Authority, and the National Insurance Fund.

A former radio host and newspaper columnist, he remains active in political and civic life. He attended Calabar High School, earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of the West Indies, and holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from the University of London.
