Indian Delegation meets with Minister Aubyn Hill

Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Masakui Rungsung and a two-member delegation from the Indian Economic Trade Organisation (IETO) met with Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Senator the Honourable Aubyn Hill on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 as part of a visit by the IETO to participate in EXPO Jamaica 2023 and to explore opportunities for investments and partnerships in Jamaica.
The Delegation comprised of the President of the IETO, Dr Asif Iqbal, and Trade Commissioner of the Latin American Caribbean Trade Council, Dr Senorita Isaac.
During the meeting with Minister Hill, the Delegation outlined their desire to have future dialogue with the Government of Jamaica and private sector interests regarding possible areas of collaboration in logistics, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Pharmaceutical and Medical Supplies, Renewable Energy, Culture & Tourism, and the Services Industry.
Minister Hill noted that in light of Jamaica’s strategic geographic positioning and the various nearshoring opportunities, both Jamaica and India could collaborate on the development of logistics including the Caymans Special Economic Zone and a Pharmaceutical Logistics Centre.
The IETO signaled that the visit to Jamaica will serve to gain an understanding of the market opportunities in Jamaica and the possibilities for collaboration among Indian companies forming part of the IETO, mainly in the Pharma, Information Technology, Hospitality and Tourism sectors and Jamaican companies. The Delegation also indicated that a large scale Mission to Jamaica is slated for the end of July, 2023 to further the dialogue and explore the opportunities and areas of collaboration and mutual interests.
The IETO is an independent, non-government organization, trade and commerce body, which represents the interests of its members through lobbying, collaboration and facilitation, as well as empowers them to be competitive in the marketplace.
