Mrs. Margaret James-Freeman is and audit professional in the government service.
In 1994 she was employed to the Ministry of Mining and Energy, Mines and Geology Division and assigned to the General Registry and Mining Registry for nine years. In 2003, she was transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Internal Audit Unit as an Audit Assistant where she worked at the ministry for 17 years. She was promoted throughout the years from the Assistant Auditor to Audit Manager/Coordinator. In 2020 there was a demerger of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC), which led to her reassignment of to MIIC.
As the Chief Audit Executive, she has led audits engagements that have uncovered major findings which has resulted in millions of dollars in savings and significant recovery of losses to the Government. She has also been involved in and led special investigations which have uncovered fraudulent activities within the Ministry, Divisions and Agencies (MDAs).
Mrs. James-Freeman holds a Master’s Degree in Computer-Based Management Information Systems from the University of the West Indies (UWI) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University College of the Caribbean (UCC) as well as a Certificates in Audit Techniques and IT Audit. She is adventurous (loves to travel and visit new places), loves to meet with people from different backgrounds, intrigued by challenges and she is a Christian by faith and is passionate in sharing the word of God with people. She loves animals and has a dog for her pet. Her favourite quote is Attitude is the “little thing” that makes a big difference.
