Minister Hill Welcomes New Sagility BPO Facility in Angels, St. Catherine

Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Senator the Hon. Aubyn Hill, welcomes the opening of a new Sagility Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) facility in Angels, St. Catherine.
Delivering the keynote address at the official opening ceremony on Tuesday (June 6, 2023), Minister Hill noted that the new facility demonstrates the continued economic contribution from the Global Digital Services Sector (GDS) in Jamaica to the country’s economy.
“I am happy to see that the Global Digital Services Sector in Jamaica, which is in the Business Ministry, continues to expand rapidly. Just last week, I had the pleasure of participating in the site opening of another BPO facility. This is one of our biggest exports; the skills of Jamaica,” the Minister said.
In Jamaica, Sagility currently employs more than three thousand six hundred (3,600) personnel out of its four centres in Kingston. With the addition of this new facility over one thousand two hundred (1,200) persons will be employed, generating significant income within the parish of St. Catherine.
The company employs specialised persons from within the Healthcare sector, in support of a major client. This, Minister Hill adds, “aligns with the mandate the Ministry has set for the Global Digital Services Sector Project, being spearheaded by JAMPRO. A critical objective of the project is to push Jamaica higher up the value chain of service delivery within Outsourcing”.
The new Angels site will begin operations this June, drawing on Jamaica’s BPO expertise to facilitate service to Sagility’s clients in the United States. “Our Kingston centres employ experienced healthcare advocates who are well-aligned with the cultural nuances of the United States and demonstrate unmatched talent for customer service,” said Sagiliy’s Head of Delivery for the Americas, Anand Biradar.
Jamaica currently employs over sixty thousand (60,000) personnel in the BPO sector, generating revenue close to US one billion dollars ($US1bil) annually with over eighty-five local operators including global companies that deliver services to the top companies within the Fortune 500, 100 and 50 rankings.
