The Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce welcomes new JMEA President

Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, the Hon. Audley Shaw and the Minister of State, the Hon. Dr. Norman Dunn, welcome the new president of the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA), Mr. John Mahfood.
Mr. Mahfood was installed as the new President of the JMEA yesterday at the entity’s annual general meeting.
Mr. Mahfood is the Chief Executive Officer of Jamaican Teas Limited (JTL) and is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Jamaica.
The Ministers noted that Mr. Mahfood comes to the position with a wealth of experience in business, commerce and trade. His over 35 years of experience augurs well for the association, as well as the future of the manufacturing sector. Mr. Mahfood is also well recognized for his philanthropic work in Jamaica.
Having previously served as a Vice President and the Committee Co-Chair Chairperson for Membership and MSME Programme Development within the JMEA, the Ministers stated that the Ministry looks forward to the robust interventions and partnerships which the new president will broker on behalf of the sector.
In welcoming the new President, the Ministers also acknowledged outgoing JMEA President, Mr. Richard Pandohie, and thanked him for his years of service and indelible contribution to the organization and the Jamaican manufacturing and export sectors. During his two – term presidency Mr. Pandohie provided sterling stewardship of the association and supported the ministry’s and the government’s initiatives to grow the manufacturing and export sectors.
The Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce will continue to collaborate closely with the new president and the association in the advancement of the national growth agenda.
