State Minister in the Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry, Hon. Floyd Green, says the newly constructed distribution warehouse of Celebration Brands Limited (CBL) signals continued confidence in the development of Jamaica’s economy.
“More importantly, this sends a great signal to other companies. We want our market leaders to be more efficient and better, which is the only way we will truly grow our economy,” he said.
Mr. Green was addressing senior staff while on tour of the 3,200 square metre facility, located on Spanish Town Road in Kingston, on August 26.
Dubbed Logic One, the new warehouse, which took approximately nine months to complete is the first of two phases that will total 16,000 square metres.
The facility will enable CBL, which is a joint venture between Red Stripe and Pepsi Cola Jamaica to distribute 40 of its brands such as Pepsi, Ting, Redstripe, Gatorade and Heineken to name a few. Both phases are estimated to cost US$16.6million.
Mr. Green noted that this kind of forward-thinking development is the type of investment the government wishes to see being developed and will continue to provide the requisite support to ensure they come to fruition.
“When our private sector does well, the government and the people do well. We want to see these investments and visioning,” Mr. Green said. Operations and Services Director of CBL, Fenton Wheelock said in his remarks that the facility boasts a full light-emitting diode (LED) system and a proper ventilation system. CBL is also in the procurement stage to secure electric forklifts to optimise its operations and protect the environment.
“We are also putting in a rainwater harvesting system so that we can wash vehicles and clean the bathrooms. This warehouse will be the benchmark of all our distribution centres,” he said.
