Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) recently partnered with the Jamaica-USA Chamber of Commerce (JAUSACC) and the Jamaica Consulate General for Southeast States, to host JUSACC’S annual Power Lunch and Business Expo in Davie, Florida.
The event brought together stakeholders from the Jamaican diaspora and the business community in Florida to network and learn about opportunities in Jamaica.
As an event sponsor, JAMPRO seized the opportunity to promote the export and investment prospects in Jamaica that members of the diaspora can take advantage of.
Regional Manager for JAMPRO’s North American Office, Shane Angus, indicated that the agency stands ready to assist members of the diaspora who want to do business in Jamaica.
“You can consider JAMPRO your business partner who will guide you through the process of establishing your project, and beyond,” he assured.
Mr. Angus pointed out that the country’s economy is diversified, “so there are plenty of opportunities for the Diaspora to consider, in terms of doing business in Jamaica”.
“There are opportunities to invest in farms in Jamaica, to improve the country’s capacity to meet the demand for its agricultural products overseas. Investment in boutique hotels or accommodation is another viable business opportunity, as tourists seek to immerse themselves in the culture and environment of Jamaica,” he added.
Jamaica’s Consul General for the Southeast States, Oliver Mair, shared that participating in events like the Expo “is a great way to spread the word that things are happening in Jamaica”.
Mr. Mair also congratulated the Chamber and its team for hosting the Expo and Power Lunch, which attracted approximately 300 participants.
The JAUSACC Expo is one of several activities on which JAMPRO has partnered with the Consulate.
JAMPRO has also joined Consul General Mair on his Jamaica 60 roadshow since the start of the year.
During the period, they have visited several states in the region to share the myriad opportunities in Jamaica that members of the diaspora can tap into.
Jamaica Promotions Corporation is an agency of the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, with a mission to drive economic development through growth in investment and export.
