Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Senator the Hon. Aubyn Hill, has charged the more than 900 employees at Centerfield’s new offices in Portmore to focus on productivity and excellence.
Delivering the keynote address during Tuesday’s (October 22) official opening of the location at Lot 2, Congreve Park, Port Henderson, Minister Hill told the workers that it is in their interest to ensure that “this business continues to grow”.
“This investment is great for Jamaica and an attitude of excellence is necessary for it to be sustained. Uphold excellence and increase productivity. You want to work at Centerfield continuously, you better be very good, because that is their requirement,” he said, while also urging them to continue to upskill themselves.
Centerfield is a cutting-edge digital marketing and sales technology company headquartered in the heart of Silicon Beach in Los Angeles, California, with additional offices in New York, Boston, Florida, and Jamaica.
The entity drives more than two million sales each year for brands such as AT&T, Sprint, ADT security company, Spectrum, and CenturyLink.
Centerfield is an integral part of the local Global Services Sector (GSS), employing more than 2,000 Jamaicans through its offices in Kingston and Montego Bay.
“You are here helping us to build that economic independence that will strengthen our political independence,” Senator Hill said.
With more than 50,000 persons employed and growing, the GSS continues to be an important contributor to Jamaica’s economy.
The Minister noted that during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was the “only noted economic sector that kept on growing”.
