Consumer Groups Urged to Engage More in Educating Purchasers

Consumer groups are being urged to shift their traditional role of advocacy, and engage more in education on the rights that purchasers of goods and services have. The National School Garden Programme, aimed at establishing a garden in every school, was re-launched by the Hon J.C. Hutchinson, Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, at the Mocho Primary School in Clarendon on October 28. Speaking at the re-launch ceremony, Minister Hutchinson said a new feature of the programme will be the establishment of a breakfast programme in the schools. Adequate Supply of Pork for Christmas

The Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) says there will be adequate supply of pork for the upcoming Christmas season. President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS), Norman Grant, said pig farmers are now producing to meet 60 per cent of local demand and will be able to provide sufficient fresh meat to the general market, as well as to ham processors.
