Agri ministry to lease 200 acres of land for new farm venture

In keeping with Government’s drive to promote diversification and increased production in the agricultural sector, Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon Audley Shaw, has committed an additional 200 acres of land for lease to Dencon Foods JA Ltd Farm, through the SCJ Holdings Ltd. Gov’t earmarks over $750m for farm roads repair

Government, through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, will be spending some $752 million in the 2019/20 fiscal year, under the National Farm Roads Project as part of the measures to boost market access through improved road infrastructure. So far for Manchester, 13 roads or approximately seven kilometres have been refurbished at a cost of $42 million. Minister Shaw purchases lettuce from farmer Casandra Hinds

Hon Audley Shaw, Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, purchases lettuce from Casandra Hinds, farmer from Spice Grove in Manchester, at the Rural Agricultural Development Authority Manchester Open Day on March 22, 2019. The agriculture minister commended the Manchester farmers for being the highest domestic food crops producers in 2018 and encouraged them to plant even more crops while assuring them of Government’s commitment to provide the appropriate framework for the marketing of their produce.
