Project to strengthen Jamaica's competitiveness gets $290.5 million

APPROXIMATELY $290.5 million has been earmarked to continue implementation of the Jamaica Foundations for Competitiveness and Growth Project. The sum is programmed in the 2022/23 estimates of expenditure, now before the House of Representatives. CLA facilitates first transhipment of ganja

THE Cannabis Licensing Association (CLA) has authorised its first legal transhipment of cannabis through the country. This after the green light was given for a consignment of cannabis to be moved through Jamaica from Caricom counterpart St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) to Germany. This saw Jamaica serving as a point for transfering cannabis from one vessel to another to facilitate the journey to its final destination. It's mandate is to lead the development of policies that will create growth and jobs, while achieving social inclusion and consumer protection.
