North African Company Joins Growing Global Digital Services Sector

Jamaica has added its first North African company to the growing Global Digital Services Sector, which currently has more than 70 firms. Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) wishing to take their businesses online can now benefit from funding through the National Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of Jamaica’s ‘EXIM E-commerce Funder’. The $100-million loan fund, which is a partnership between the EXIM Bank and the Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association (JMEA), was launched in September to help businesses improve their digital footprint in the e-commerce space. The Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce is described as Jamaica's "Business Ministry." It's mandate is to lead the development of policies that will create growth and jobs, while achieving social inclusion and consumer protection. The Ministry, working its stakeholders is primarily responsible for business policy development, monitoring and evaluation, while giving direction and oversight to a cluster of implementing departments and agencies.
