KINGSTON, JAMAICA; June 26, 2025: Chase Hanameel Brown, a Clarendon native and
innovative agro-entrepreneur, emerged as one of the first winners of the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce’s (MIIC) MSME Business Roadshow Pitch Competition at its inaugural stop in Mandeville.
Founder of 2A4 Foods, Brown transformed his passion for farming into a high-tech agribusiness that blends traditional cultivation with drone and irrigation technology. His 25-acre farm in Braes River, St. Elizabeth, focuses on sweet potatoes and pumpkins, using drones for soil monitoring and precision application of chemicals, and technology to manage water usage.
Brown’s pitch stood out at the Roadshow, earning him a $300,000 cash grant that has since enhanced his business operations. “The prize money helped us expand our production area and secure critical supplies such as fertilisers and insecticides,” he explained. “It also supported the development of distribution channels for our produce.”
Since registering 2A4 Foods with the Companies Office of Jamaica in 2023 — a MIIC agency —Brown has remained committed to growing his enterprise and supporting MSME advocacy. He currently serves as First Vice President of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, with responsibility for external affairs.
Reflecting on his journey, Brown urged fellow MSMEs to seize the opportunity: “Do it for the exposure, for the growth, for the capital — and most of all, for the opportunities it will unlock. The MIIC Pitch Competition validated our vision and gave us the encouragement to keep pushing through the challenges.”
The MSME Business Roadshow, hosted by MIIC in partnership with the Inter-American
Development Bank (IDB) in parishes across the island, offers MSMEs across Jamaica the tools, funding access, and networking opportunities to drive sustainable business growth. To date, the MIIC has held eight Roadshows and has awarded J$17.6M in grant funding to 62 MSMEs.
