Minister Shaw Travels to Israel

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, the Hon. Audley Shaw, will travel to Israel, November 23 to 28, 2018, on a mission to explore opportunities for greater collaboration on several areas.
Minister Shaw, along with an accompanying delegation of public and private sector members, will meet with Israel’s Minister of Commerce to discuss prospects for bilateral trade; investments in agro-processing, tourism and Business Process Outsourcing.
The meetings will also focus on investment and technical assistance toward the digitization of government ministries, departments and agencies as well as exploring the possibility of Israeli contractors bidding for and providing long-term financing loans to continue the build-out of major infrastructure projects in Jamaica.
In addition, Minster Shaw will seek Israeli cooperation on expanding our agricultural capacity in order to meet the substantial demand of the Jamaican and tourist population – a demand that is now met by imports in the region of US$1 billion annually. Discussion on this subject will centre on technical assistance and investments in field and farm capacity and equipment, agricultural storage and agro-processing, as well as on upgrading and digitizing our water production and irrigation resources.
The delegation will also convene meetings with senior Israeli business owners who may have interest in exploring business and investment opportunities in Jamaica.
