Students at Holland Primary School in St. Elizabeth eat stir fried callaloo with cheese and French toast with the Hon. J.C. Hutchinson, Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, on November 15, 2019. The school tour and breakfast demonstration was part of the Eat Jamaican Month activities organised by the Jamaica Agricultural Society, RADA and the Ministry. In a talk to the students, Minister Hutchinson emphasised the importance and benefits of eating locally grown produce and encouraged the school to incorporate more local ingredients in its Breakfast Programme.
Agri Ministry encourages Jamaicans to eat more local produce
In celebration of Eat Jamaican Month, Jamaicans are being urged to consume and utilize more Jamaican produce and products in order to grow and build Jamaica. The Eat Jamaican campaign, now in its 16th year, is organised by the Jamaica Agricultural Society, Rural Agricultural Development Authority and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries (MICAF) under the theme grow what we eat, eat what we grow.
