Jamaica’s Business Ministry, the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce (MIIC), welcomed members of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) Trade Mission to a special “Doing Business in Jamaica” seminar, on Monday, 12 May, underscoring the country’s commitment to regional trade, investment, and economic cooperation.

In her address to the delegation at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, Permanent Secretary in the MIIC, Mrs. Sancia Bennett Templer, highlighted Jamaica’s remarkable economic turnaround and reinforced the Government’s dedication to fostering a modern, business-friendly environment for local and international investors.

“We are pleased to facilitate this engagement, which reflects the importance of deepening ties between Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago,” said Mrs. Bennett Templer. “South-South trade is not optional—it is indispensable, and this mission presents a timely opportunity to unlock new avenues for mutual growth.”

Eighteen Trinidad and Tobago-based companies spanning industries such as construction, logistics, technology, and manufacturing are participating in the mission, which includes visits to both Kingston and Montego Bay.

The Permanent Secretary detailed Jamaica’s suite of investment incentives—including tax relief benefits under the Productive Input Relief (PIR) programme, and the strategic opportunities available in Special Economic Zones (SEZs). She further emphasized Jamaica’s infrastructure modernisation and efforts to streamline the ease of doing business through digital platforms and regulatory reforms.

“Our Ministry, through agencies like JAMPRO, JBDC, JSEZA, JANAAC and the Bureau of Standards Jamaica, is strategically supporting trade and investment through targeted policies, digital tools, and market access initiatives,” she noted.

The Permanent Secretary emphasized the need for stronger two-way trade flows and more regional joint ventures.

The seminar featured presentations from key Jamaican agencies, including the Jamaica Customs Agency, Public Procurement Commission, Bureau of Standards Jamaica, and the Ministry of Health & Wellness. It forms part of a wider trade mission designed to deepen commercial ties and explore investment prospects across both territories.

“Jamaica is open for business—and ready to do business with Trinidad and Tobago,” declared Mrs. Bennett Templer.
