SEAL OF APPROVAL: EXIM Bank Recertified
MIIC Author
For 37 years, EXIM has prioritized operating at optimal quality standards, as Jamaica’s Development Finance Institution (DFI) and the Caribbean’s first and only Export Credit Agency (ECA) The Bank has always lauded itself on ensuring that its strategic imperatives are clearly outlined and are facilitated by detailed, efficient processes and procedures, to guarantee client satisfaction. From the Bank’s inception, offering high-quality products and services to its key target group – the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) Sector, has been an inherent EXIM company valuLe, one which the Bank has always endeavoured to suffer no compromise.
Throughout EXIM’s history, the Bank has consistently upheld well-defined internal processes, and operations which have continually improved. This precise modus operandi laid the foundation for the eventual pursuit of the ISO 9001:2015 certification, in the adoption of the globally recognised Quality Management Standard. This was in alignment with the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce’s drive to transform the public sector, through the Public Sector Transformation Project – an initiative within the National Quality Policy and Implementation Plan of 2019. Under the guidance of the Ministry, several technical divisions and agencies have pursued the implementation of the ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard. EXIM’s efforts were not in vain, as signaled by the Bank’s certification achievement in April 2020 – becoming the first public sector body of several Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification, for the successful implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) This accomplishment spoke to the Bank’s application of core quality management principles, which targeted an enhanced customer experience and sought to support critical key performance indicators within the Bank’s operational strategy.
The ISO 9001:2015 implementation process was comprehensive and effective, and involved a review of the Bank’s mandate and current management system, to determine suitability for the ISO 9001:2015 QMS. EXIM worked with an ISO 9001consultant to prepare for the implementation of the QMS and outline the ISO Certification Scope, in preparation for Stage 1 Certification Audit.
