JAMPRO Facilitates US$350 Million Free Zone Investment

Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) has facilitated investment totalling over US$350 million for a free zone to be opened in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, with provision of some 2,500 jobs. The companies operating in the zone will also provide 300 engineering scholarships to Jamaican students. Work Towards Developing a Cannabis Regulatory Framework Underway

Anthony Hylton, today announced that the recommendations to guide the development of the regulations for the Cannabis industry will be completed in September. The Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce has merged the Jamaica Business Development Corporation , The Micro Investment Development Agency and the Self Start Fund under a single board. The new board headed by Mr. Brian Pengelley, former President of the Jamaica Manufacturers Association, will oversee operations of all three entities engaged in micro, small and medium sized enterprise (MSME) capacity building and lending.
