CLA Has Granted 78 Licences

Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Audley Shaw, says the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) has granted 78 licences, to date, with 13 issued in the 2020/21 financial year. He gave the update during his contribution to the Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives on Tuesday (May 11). Minister Shaw said that the licences are for various activities, including cultivation, processing, transport, research and development, and retail. Companies Act To Be Amended To Accommodate Virtual Meetings

A Bill is being drafted to amend the Companies Act to allow a company in Jamaica to hold general meetings, whether annual general meetings (AGMs) or extraordinary general meetings (EGMs), as hybrid meetings, that is in-person and virtually, or as completely electronic meetings. CAC Secures $22 Million For Aggrieved Consumers

The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) secured approximately $22 million in refunds and compensation on behalf of aggrieved consumers who transacted business with product and service providers during 2020/2021.
