The Jamaica Trade Board Limited has launched a new trading platform that will better enable local manufacturers and exporters to unlock and take advantage of business opportunities across the globe.

The online platform, dubbed ‘EXPORT Jamaica’, will provide businesspeople with information to identify and enter new markets and successfully promote and sell their products.

Addressing the launch on Wednesday (March 6) at the ROK Hotel in Kingston, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Aubyn Hill, who has responsibility for the Trade Board, hailed EXPORT Jamaica as “a groundbreaking global market intelligence and compliance gateway”.

The website will allow users to obtain information on import and export compliance requirements, access tools to aid in the calculation and conversion of customs duties and form meaningful connections through business directories, tradeshows, and marketplaces.

It is designed for exporters, potential suppliers and manufacturers, and government entities.

“EXPORT Jamaica is another major achievement for the Jamaica Trade Board Limited. Our vision for the platform is clear – to lead in the provision of vital market intelligence that plays a pivotal role in supporting Jamaican businesses as they ambitiously expand into markets around the world,” the Minister said.

He noted that micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) will benefit from the platform, as they will be able to export to larger companies and markets.

He urged manufacturers, irrespective of the size or niche, to embrace the potential of EXPORT Jamaica.

“Make a strategic investment in your business and focus on the production of high-quality products and services that possess the inherent appeal to captivate international markets,” he urged.

He also appealed to larger companies to invest in smaller Jamaican businesses and purposely trade with them using online platforms like EXPORT Jamaica in order to strengthen the economy.

The launch also included the introduction of the new Trade Board logo as part of the rebranding of the agency to reflect a renewed commitment to enhancing trade services, particularly export, and facilitating the growth of Jamaican businesses.

The new logo features interlocking circles with arrows to imply growth, with the world being represented in blue and Jamaica represented with black, green and gold.

“The Jamaica Trade Board’s adoption of a new name and logo serves as a laudable testament to their commitment to fortifying trade services with Jamaican businesses. This strategic rebranding initiative represents more than a symbolic change. It signifies the profound dedication to adapting and enhancing trade services to meet the evolving needs of the business community,” Minister Hill said.
