Drafting of Interim Regulations for Cannabis Industry Underway

The Cabinet Sub-Committee on Ganja, this week, gave instructions for drafting of interim regulations for the Cannabis industry to begin. The instructions came after an exhaustive process including consultation with key stakeholders by the Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA). The Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) is intensifying its activities to increase the compliance rate among block makers. Customs to Implement Measures for Busy Christmas Season

The Jamaica Customs Agency will be implementing a number of measures at the various ports of entry, in anticipation of the increase in activities during the upcoming Yuletide season. The country’s food exporters are being urged to become compliant with global labeling requirements in order to increase access to international markets. Jamaica Promotions Corporation ( JAMPRO ) has facilitated investment totalling over US$350 million for a free zone to be opened in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, with provision of some 2,500 jobs.
