Agro Parks to be Expanded

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Karl Samuda, says the agro park concept will be expanded across the length and breadth of Jamaica. Samuda Calls for Lowering of Interest Rates on MSME Loans

Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Karl Samuda, is calling for banks to lower interest rates to single digit, in order to boost production and growth within the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector. He cited agriculture as one sector which cannot grow with an interest rate that exceeds four per cent. 70 Patent Examiners Trained

Applying for a patent in Jamaica should be quicker and easier now that the local pool of competent examiners has increased. Over 70 patent examiners were recently trained during two one-week workshops coordinated by the Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO) with financial support from the European Union.
