Gov’t Forging Partnership to Source Tools for Farmers

The Government is seeking to forge a partnership with local entity Caribbean Cable Company (CCC) to source tools and equipment for small farmers. Talks are underway with potential new investors in the operations at the Long Pond Sugar Factory in Clark’s Town, Trelawny. Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. The Government will be moving to tackle the problem of imported refined sugar for use in the manufacturing sector, which ends up in the retail trade. Major Investment at Hounslow Agro Park

A major conglomerate will be investing in more than 200 acres of land for the production of hot peppers at the Hounslow Agro Park, in St. Elizabeth. Levy Reduced on Conch Exports

A levy of US$0.50 has been imposed on each pound of conch exported during the 2016 conch season. This is a reduction from the US$0.75 imposed on each pound of conch exported during the 2015 season.
