Customs to Implement Measures for Busy Christmas Season

The Jamaica Customs Agency will be implementing a number of measures at the various ports of entry, in anticipation of the increase in activities during the upcoming Yuletide season. Commissioner of Customs, Major Richard Reese, said among the measures will be the deployment of additional personnel to the air and seaports. He also mentioned that the pool of customer service/information officers is to be increased. Food Exporters Urged to Become Compliant with Global Labelling Standards

The country’s food exporters are being urged to become compliant with global labeling requirements in order to increase access to international markets. Certified Food Scientist, Dr. André Gordon, said that roughly 10 per cent of Caribbean food products entering major markets over the past 10 years have been rejected due to improper product labelling.
