Government receives €6.5m for Sugar Programme

The European Union has handed over €6.5m (J$910.19m) to the Government under the Accompanying Measures for Sugar Protocol Countries, AMS 2013 Financing Agreement. The funds were handed over by Head of the European Union Delegation to Jamaica, Ambassador Malgorzata Wasilewska to Finance and the Public Service Minister, Hon. Audley Shaw on Thursday January 19, 2017. The Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce is described as Jamaica's "Business Ministry." It's mandate is to lead the development of policies that will create growth and jobs, while achieving social inclusion and consumer protection. The Ministry, working its stakeholders is primarily responsible for business policy development, monitoring and evaluation, while giving direction and oversight to a cluster of implementing departments and agencies.
