Banana, plantain production increase in 2016

Chief Technical Director in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Dermon Spence, said that Jamaica’s production of plantain and banana in 2016 increased by 13.1% and 8%, respectively, while noting that there is need for increased productivity in order to meet the huge export demand. It's mandate is to lead the development of policies that will create growth and jobs, while achieving social inclusion and consumer protection.
