CAC Commends Motorists For Patience

The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) has commended motorists for their patience and for exercising their rights in seeking redress with the Commission after their vehicles were affected by contaminated fuel in 2015. “We want to thank the consumers affected for their patience over the last five years. $24.5 Million Compensation For Bad Gas

Approximately 380 motorists whose vehicles were affected by “bad gas” in 2015 will benefit from a compensation package valued at $24.5 million, Minister of Science, Energy and Technology, Hon. Fayval Williams, announced during a digital press conference on Friday (May 22). She said that Petrojam Ethanol Limited (PEL) had paid over the funds for the settlement to the Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC), which will begin the payments shortly. The Government is moving to ensure that consumers have increased protection, through the merger of the Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Fair Trading Commission (FTC).
